Well the clearance work is well under way at Stewart Towers, the lawn weed which reported in my earlier post has been felled and with a few enjoyable winters day bonfires has been disposed of, the shed has had new roof timbers and has been re-felted. Todays job has been to begin the clearing of the borders and the cutting back of overgrown and neglected fruit trees and shrubs.
A minarette plum as reached 15 foot and has now been reduced to 7 foot with some judicious pruning.
Growing through all of the fruit trees were some of the largest brambles that I have seem, the longest one when teased outmeasured 36 feet long with enough laterals to make it over 100 foot of growth.
Needless to say I am looking forward to seeing it gobbled up by the shredder.
I am taking photographs of the reclamation project for my gardening talk, My Garden, or the 18 year makeover
